Almcoe's History & Mission

Almcoe Refrigeration Company began as a small; family operated business in 1960. W.E. Almquist and W.J. Coe, lifelong friends, learned the refrigeration business working for the Joe Hoppe Company of Dallas. Together they started Almcoe and quickly became the leading independent refrigeration contractor in the North Texas area. Serving such customers as A&P, Safeway and Winn Dixie, Almcoe grew to a well-managed company of over 20 employees. This trend of stable growth and expansion continued through the decades of the 70’s. As the customer base expanded, the company grew to meet the demands of the additional workload.

During the 80’s the founders began to develop key personnel to take over the reigns of the business. Bill Almquist and Wayne Waters were entrusted with the operations management and were afforded the opportunity to purchase the company in 1989

In 2002, Bill Almquist purchased the company from Mr. Waters and now has sole ownership of Almcoe Refrigeration Company. From the time Almcoe was developed, until the present, the leaders of the company have continued the vision of the founders and we have remained a leading independent refrigeration contractor.

In 2007, Almcoe opened it’s second office in Tyler, TX. Our goal is to open as many locations we need in the future to better serve our customers.

The heart of the business is and always has been excellent service, timely installations and excellent products. Our technicians are seasoned, professionally trained and attuned to the needs of the customers’ refrigeration needs. Our installations have been the hallmark of well-planned and well-orchestrated jobs done in a timely fashion so as to not interrupt the operations of the customers’ stores. Our products have been and continue to be the best in the business. Our association with Hill Phoenix Refrigeration has been a major contributing factor to the growth of our sales department. We also offer multiple lines of self-contained equipment, ice machines, air-conditioning and food service equipment through our membership in Institutional Supermarket Equipment Corporation.
